1. Who you are agreeing with
Paguely is operated by Mereltech LLC, 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States
("Paguely", "we", "us"). These terms are a binding agreement between you and us.
If you do not agree to them, please do not use the app.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Paguely, and at least
16 if you are in the European Economic Area. By using the app you
confirm that you meet that requirement.
2. What Paguely is
Paguely helps you discover your next read. You answer a short mood quiz, you are matched
to a book, and you see a few clues about it before the title and cover are revealed. You
can also browse a swipeable stack, keep a personal shelf, track your reading, rate and
review books, and follow other readers.
Book information and cover images come from Open Library, a project of the
Internet Archive. We do not own that catalogue, we do not guarantee it is complete or
correct, and books may be missing or have wrong metadata.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Keep your password private, and tell us if you think someone else has access.
- Give us accurate information when you sign up. Do not impersonate anyone.
- One person, one account. Do not create accounts in bulk or with automated tools.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This is permanent and immediate.
4. Paguely+ subscriptions
Paguely is free to use, with a limit of three reveals per month.
Paguely+ removes that limit and unlocks re-rolls, full reading stats,
Reading DNA, streak freezes, and reveal filters.
- Billing is handled by Apple or Google, not by us. We never see your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown at purchase, until you cancel.
- Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your access continues until the end of the period you already paid for.
- If a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us. We cannot issue store refunds directly, though we will try to help if something goes wrong.
- If we change the subscription price, we will tell you in advance, and the change will only take effect after your current period ends.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a
purchase within 14 days. Because digital content is delivered immediately, that right may
be lost once you begin using the subscription, which you acknowledge at purchase. Store
refund policies may be more generous, and nothing here limits your statutory rights.
5. Your content
Reviews, notes, posts, comments, and anything else you write in Paguely
belong to you. We do not claim ownership of it.
By posting content, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store,
display, and distribute it within Paguely, so that the app can show it to
the people you chose to show it to. That licence exists only so the product can function.
It ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we are legally required
to retain something, or where it has already been shared with another user.
We do not use your reviews or notes to train AI models, and we do not send them to any AI
service. See the Privacy Policy.
6. What is not allowed
- No harassment, hate speech, threats, or targeted abuse of other readers.
- No spam, and no fake accounts.
- No scraping, bulk-downloading, or copying the catalogue or other users' data.
- No reverse engineering the app, or attempting to bypass reveal limits, the paywall, or any security control.
- No uploading anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to post.
- No using Paguely to build a competing product.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules. If we terminate your
account for a serious breach, you will not be refunded for the remainder of a subscription
period. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.
7. Buy and borrow links
Paguely links out to Amazon, Bookshop.org, Audible, and Open Library so you can buy or
borrow a book. Some of those are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if
you buy through them. It costs you nothing extra.
This never affects which book you are matched with. Matching is based on
your mood answers and your reading history, and nothing else. We do not accept payment
from publishers or authors to place books in reveals.
Those are third-party stores. Their prices, availability, delivery, and returns are their
responsibility, not ours.
8. AI-generated clues
A few pieces of text are generated by AI: the clues shown before a reveal,
the "Why this book" explanation, and your Reading DNA tags. The app itself, including how you
are matched to a book, runs on our own code; AI only writes these bits of flavour text. They
may be inaccurate, strange, or a poor fit for the book. They are a part of the game, not
editorial fact, and you should not rely on them as a review or a description of a book's
contents.
Paguely is a discovery toy, not a content-safety filter. We do not vet every book in the
catalogue, and a reveal may surface a book with themes you would rather avoid.
9. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Paguely running, but we do not promise it will always be available or
error-free. We may add, change, or remove features. If we make a change that materially
reduces what a paid subscription gives you, we will tell you, and you may cancel.
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app before it
takes effect. Continuing to use Paguely after that means you accept the new terms.
10. Disclaimers and liability
Paguely is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest
extent the law allows.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental,
special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use
of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to
the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or 50 USD.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you cannot legally waive. That
includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and any
statutory consumer rights you have in your country. If you are a consumer, mandatory
consumer protection law in your country of residence still applies.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, and the
courts of Wyoming have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the EEA or
UK, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your own country, and you keep the
protection of the mandatory laws there.
12. App Store terms
If you downloaded Paguely from the Apple App Store: this agreement is between you and
Paguely, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no
obligation to provide support. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may
enforce them against you. If the app fails to conform to any warranty, you may notify
Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
